 Someone Took the Stupid Pill

Beyond Parkland, children are wounded and killed by guns daily” (ABC News), “Guns kill nearly 1,300 US children each year” (CNN), “Teacher’s Gun Is Accidentally Fired During Public Safety Class” (NY TIMES), “L.A. middle school shooting: Gun accidentally discharged in girl’s backpack, police say.” (NBC News)…..  Can this all be prevented?

Why are our children being killed by firearms?  Why are there accidental discharges?  What are the cause of these preventable shootings?    Bottom line, many of these problem are caused by those who are irresponsible firearm owners.  And because of these dumb-asses, it’s harming and killing those we love and the end result are stricter firearm regulations for responsible firearm owners and a snowball effect of more silly laws created by uneducated people who make decisions for us.  In this article, I am not going to talk about those psychopaths that want to purposely go out and harm people, I am just going to talk about those irresponsible firearm owners.

I just wanted to start out and express my complete disappointment in those irresponsible ass-clown firearm owners who so carelessly are putting firearms in the hands of children because they can’t lock up their weapon and those others that just don’t follow simple safety rules that were put in place to prevent the loss of life and bodily harm.  But somehow, these people have taken the stupid pill and they have completely disregarded people’s safety.  They end up making the rest of us who are responsible look like we are also contributing to the problem because some dumb-ass who was not trained in four simple safety rules ends up creating a tsunami of news reports that are focused on disarming innocent people and arming criminals.  And with this gene pool of stupidity, the general public is turned against decent firearm owners.

Because of these irresponsible firearm owners, it’s making life more complicated for everyone on all sides.  These problems can be so easily preventable that it can decrease the amount of injuries and deaths in our nation.  With such poor judgement by some firearm owners, it is creating fear among those who are responsible owners.  In their eyes, the government will change laws by implementing more restrictions and possible confiscations.  When this fear runs rampant, people will purchase more ammo and firearms because prices start skyrocketing and ammo begins disappearing from the shelves, along with the fear that the government will start illegally seizing people’s property.  So people start to stockpile.  People begin to fear government control in how people live their lives especially when it comes to self-preservation.  No one should tell you how to defend yourself, especially by those who never had to defend themselves from a credible threat.

Nobody wants something taken away from them.  Like taking away a health care system, immanent domain enforced on people’s homes, drug companies making decisions for you by changing your medication to something that doesn’t work and no longer covered by your insurance, or your privacy slowly being stripped away; just to name a few.  When you have something already in place and people are using it, then one day someone makes the decision for you and decides to take it away, then it becomes a catalyst that’s set in motion down a path that nobody wants to go.  No one wants things taken away from them.

The root of many of our problems comes down to dumb-ass firearm owners who do not do the simple things of following the four universal firearm safety rules and getting trained.  With any tool, there is safety and training involved.  If you’ve ever driven a car, for the safety for everyone on the highway, you have been trained and you follow those safety rules.  If you work with wood (like cabinetry), you have been trained and follow the safety rules.  If you don’t someone will lose a life or inflict pain and suffering.  Cooking at a stove, you need to be trained to prevent fires or extinguishing them and also give first aid if someone is burned.  A firearm is no different, it is a tool for defensive purposes.  You get the training, you continue the training and you continue to follow the safety rules.

If every firearm owner would get training and follow the universal firearm safety rules (there’s just 4, it’s not that hard), and lock up their firearms (unloaded) to prevent them from being stolen, we would not see such horrific articles of children being harmed or killed or be in the current situation that we are in.  It’s just common sense.  Children won’t be bringing firearms to classrooms.  We won’t have people having accidental discharges of weapons.  It’s so simple, but we just have some real stupid people out there.

Don’t be a dumb-ass.  Memorize and follow the four firearm safety rules and get training every year.  If we all did this, we won’t see such horrible headlines in the news, you won’t have people marching in protest and you won’t have silly-ass laws put in place by those who never fired a gun or got training on it.  Because of these dumb-ass irresponsible firearm owners, they are making us look like evil people in the eyes of the general public and they are giving ammunition to the news media that are very biased that they use this information to spread fear to increase their television ratings.  They really don’t care about you (no matter what side of the fence you are on).  They receive the information and control it by giving half truths or not providing the full story (just snippets to put fear into people) to make us responsible firearm owners look like we are the spawn of evil.

People want peace and not violence in their lives.  We all want this.  If humans were not such a violent race, then we would be in a much different place today.  But the reality is that there are some real evil people out there.

Use common sense, get firearm safety training, memorize and live by the universal firearm safety rules.  We would all be in much calmer waters and not be on edge of our seats as a nation.  It’s that simple.

Be safe out there, be the responsible firearm owner and always follow the “Concealed Carry Creed”!!!
